Membership Requirements

Who Can Apply?

Any business or sole trader involved in exterior surface cleaning is welcome to join; pressure washing, roof cleaning, softwashing, window cleaning, render cleaning, gutter and patio cleaning, driveway sealing, solar panel cleaning, stone/masonry and heritage restoration, facilities teams, and more. ECA members commit to using licensed biocides, label-compliant products, keeping legitimate paperwork in place, and working safely and responsibly. We run member spot checks as a supportive quality assurance designed to help members stay current and showcase best practice.

Following are the requirements for membership:

Completed recognised exterior cleaning training (incl. COSHH awareness).
Proof of training or certificates.
Valid Public Liability Insurance (and Employer’s Liability if applicable).
Agreement to the ECA Code of Conduct.
A Set Of RAMS Relevant To The Applicants Sector

Application Process

How to Apply

Already SSIP-accredited (e.g., SafeContractor, CHAS, SMAS, Achilles, Avetta or similar)? You’ll qualify for automatic acceptance. The same applies to individuals who’ve completed City & Guilds Assured or NEBOSH Endorsed training that includes a COSHH element. These need to be dated within the last 3 years. Simply apply, upload your certificates and documents, and after a quick compliance check we’ll issue your invoice and activate your membership.

Don’t have SSIP or those awards yet? No problem. Complete our ECA Entrance Course via the Training tab (mainly online), then upload your certificate and documents. Once verified, we’ll send your invoice and get you onboard.
